The Opinel pocket knife with wooden handle. Originally made for farmers in 1890 by Joseph Opinel. The Opinel pocket knife is a famous, yet very cheap pocket knife for daily use, available from very small to quite large.
The larger models are equipped with the simple but effective Virobloc lock. This is formed by the ring that can be turned around the pivot point. This will block the blade. A classic in the truest sense of the word.
This knife has a carbon steel blade. This is very easy and thin to sharpen and therefore very sharp, while it is still very strong. Carbon steel is more sensitive to rust than rust-resistant steel and must therefore be kept clean and dry.
